Amazon FAST Freevee To Add Channels Featuring WBD Content

In another example of rival entertainment companies becoming increasingly open to collaborating for mutual benefit — particularly in the free, ad-supported (FAST) space — Amazon Freevee will add 11 channels featuring Warner Bros. Discovery content.

Freevee will also be adding 12 more channels featuring content from MGM, which Amazon acquired in 2022 for $8.5 billion.

The WBD channels, debuting this month, will feature WBD studio and Discovery content including “Cake Boss,” “Extreme Couponing,” “Ghost Brothers,” “Paranormal Lockdown,” “Say Yes to the Dress” and “Long Lost Family.”

The new MGM offerings include channels based on single titles, such as “The Pink Panther,” “Stargate,” “Green Acres” and “The Outer Limits.” Other channels, including MGM Presents, MGM Presents: Action and MGM Presents: Sci-Fi, are collections of MGM movies and series such as “Capote” and “Red Dawn.” The new MGM channels join existing ones featuring MGM properties such as “Paternity Court,” “In the Heat of the Night,” “The Addams Family” and “Teen Wolf.”

Freevee also recently struck a deal for 10 channels based on content from the Lionsgate studio, which owns Starz. Nine channels are available now, including “Nashville,” “Are We There Yet?,” “Anger Management” and “HerSphere.” “Ghost Hunters” is set to launch in coming weeks.

Additional channels coming to Freevee in June include “Amazon Movies,” “Judge & Jury,” “QVC,” “HSN,” “Tastemade en Español,” “The Big Dish,” “USA Today” and “USA Today Sports.”

The latest additions are a continuation of Freevee’s rapid content expansion over the past year, which has included original channels co-branded with Prime Video, such as “Amazon Originals,” “Judy Justice” and “Bosch,” as well as syndicated channels with partners, including news content with The Washington Post, FOX and ABC News; sports content with the NHL, MLB and PGA; and music content with Vevo and XITE.
