Lyft, Electrify America Partner To Encourage EV Adoption

Ride-sharing platform Lyft and charging network Electrify America are partnering to provide drivers on Lyft using electric vehicles with discounted charging at Electrify America stations coast-to-coast.

The collaboration helps Electrify America support EV adoption by advancing electrification of ride-share miles, says Robert Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America.

Under the agreement, active and eligible drivers on Lyft will receive a tiered discount on Electrify America Pass pricing for DC Fast charging at all Electrify America stations.

The charging agreement is a loyalty benefit for Lyft Rewards drivers—the more they drive, the more they save.

Upfront costs and access to affordable charging continue to be two of the biggest challenges drivers face when transitioning to electric vehicles, says  said Erin Gray, product director at Lyft.

“By becoming the first rideshare company to team up with Electrify America, we’re further attacking those barriers head on,” Gray says in a release.

Drivers can potentially save hundreds of dollars on charging per year, in addition to the money they would already save on maintenance, by making the switch to EVs.

Electrify America currently has over 800 charging stations comprised of over 3,500 individual chargers open or with construction completed.

The company, a subsidiary of Volkswagen of America, recently launched a brand-neutral EV promotion campaign.

Electrify America has agreements with various manufacturers for their electric vehicles to use its network of chargers or provide discounted charging rates or free charging, including Volkswagen, Audi, Harley Davidson, Hyundai and Lucid Motors.
