On Tuesday, various users posted screenshots highlighting their newfound ability to toggle on the “Share to Threads” option.
When the option was turned on, a message appeared, giving users an option to always share Instagram posts to Threads and “grow your reach.”
Users with a private profile are then able to approve which Threads users can see, share and interact with their posts. Instagram photo captions will become the primary text for the subsequent Thread, while hashtags will become plain text.
Meta has confirmed that this is a global test and is applicable solely to photos between Instagram and Threads. Users who opt in to cross platform sharing are able to turn off the capability at any time.
The test follows a similar test Meta ran in February, allowing iOS users to post on Facebook and Threads simultaneously.

Threads users are able to post content from Threads to Instagram as well, making a post into a Story or part of their feed.
The new test is accessible to both iOS and Android users.
With Threads, Meta has been trying to prioritize creators as much as possible.
Last week, the tech giant announced an invite-only bonus program for creators that pays up to $5,000 to post on Threads.
Threads, which is less than a year old, has surpassed 150 million monthly active users and averaged an estimated 28 million daily active users last month -- beating out X, which had 22 million daily active users.\
Threads, therefore, may be worth creators' time.
