Thousand Oaks, CA-based biotechnology company Amgen has put its U.S. media agency assignments into review.
Incumbents include Omnicom and WPP.

Spending on U.S. media is estimated at $289 million, according to agency research firm COMvergence. The company’s total ad budget last year was $647 million according to the company’s 2023 annual report Company revenue last year was 28.2 billion, up 7%.
In the United States, most of the firm's sales are to pharmaceutical wholesale distributors, which in turn sell products to healthcare providers. The company markets products through direct-to-consumer channels, including print, television and online media.
The company said that MediaLink would support the “invitation-only process.”
Confirming the review, a company spokesperson replied via email, “we have initiated a formal agency review of our comprehensive U.S. media business, encompassing our entire brand portfolio. The review will focus on all areas of media planning and buying, across all channels, and aligns with our broader commitment to investing in innovation, delivering best-in-class marketing capabilities and driving operational excellence.”
Amgen companies include Horizon Therapeutics, deCODE Genetics, Micromet Inc., and Onyx Pharmaceuticals.
