Oprah, Starbucks Back Together Again

Starbucks is teaming up with Oprah's Book Club and new podcast series.

“The Oprah Podcast will feature weekly conversations between Winfrey and thought leaders, cultural icons and more, as well as one conversation per month with an author from Oprah’s Book Club, in partnership with Starbucks,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. “The podcast will be available on Oprah’s YouTube channel, with the audio versions available on all platforms.”

Oprah announced her latest book club selection and podcast partnership with Starbucks on CBS Mornings, as she appeared in-studio with author Claire Keegan, according to OprahDaily.com.

Each month from a Starbucks cafe, Oprah will host an author selected as part of her book club over a cup of coffee, and customers can listen to the conversation on Oprah’s new podcast series.

"Each author interview will be filmed in Starbucks cafes, with the first conversation taking place at the Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building store in New York City and each book will also have an official Starbucks beverage pairing,” according to The Hollywood Reporter

Other upcoming authors include Mel Robbins, Daniel Pink, Ina Garten and Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General, according to oprah.com.

This latest venture between Oprah and Starbucks marks their third collaboration, according to Starbucks. The first was in 1997 when Oprah’s Book Club selections were made available in Starbucks stores, with proceeds going to literacy funds. In 2014 Oprah paired with Starbucks to create the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea, which raised $21 million to support youth education organizations across the country.

“Connecting with people about what matters to us in this moment, so we can all continue to reach our highest, truest potential is what I’m most interested in offering at this time in my life,” Winfrey said in a statement, according to The Associated Press. “As one of my greatest pride and joys this past 30 years has been introducing books to new audiences, I am delighted to partner with Starbucks as we craft this new podcast. It is the perfect opportunity to bring together readers around things we both love: books, coffee and conversation.”
