Nissan Gears Up For March Madness

As one of the official partners of March Madness, Nissan will be everywhere -- whether fans are filling out a bracket, watching a game or checking out highlights on social media.

The automaker is launching a 30-second TV spot from TWBA/Chiat/Day featuring its full line of vehicles. OMD West is placing media and Critical Mass, Inc. handles digital.

“So what's on the horizon at Nissan?” the voiceover asks. “ Well, buckle up: new technologies, new hybrid and EV powertrains and an award-winning new lineup should be here in… oh, now! Did we mention they're all backed by Nissan maintenance care so whether you’re looking for a new ride today or dreaming about one for the future, the road ahead has never looked brighter. Full speed ahead!”

The commercial “strikes an optimistic tone while showcasing our diverse range of products, highlighting the great vehicles Nissan continues to bring to the marketplace,” according to a spokesperson. “Alongside our new campaign, we will also be leveraging March Madness media to drive mass awareness of the All-New Murano and the All-New Armada.”

Nissan also recently launched “Kickstart Your Day,” a social-first video series featuring four players from the University of Kansas and the University of South Carolina, created in partnership with Learfield Studios.

The four-part series, which highlights the Nissan Kicks as the perfect companion for student-athletes who are always on the move, gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the morning routines of the players. In each episode, the athletes share insights into how they balance their sport, academics, and personal lives during basketball season.

The effort was distributed across the schools’ athletics social media accounts in addition to the players’ respective social channels.

Nissan has worked with Learfield -- which arranges multimedia deals, sponsorships, and promotions for companies with colleges -- on other efforts, including a March Madness commercial last year that featured South Carolina Gamecocks’ beloved mascot, Cocky.
