New Amsterdam Vodka Campaign Highlights Barfly Race

Winning may not be everything, but it is the goal (along with a few cocktails) of two barflies in New Amsterdam Vodka’s latest brand effort.

The brand has released its new “Find Your Wins” campaign, as well as a refreshed logo and label design.

Fittingly for a brand named New Amsterdam, its TV, digital and social spot takes place in Manhattan.

It opens on a couple of guys sitting at a dimly lit New York bar. They both receive a text from friends at another bar, asking for their whereabouts.

The next text presents a challenge: “Drinks are on last one here.” Upon reading this, the two race out of the bar, undertaking the competition with gusto. Taking shortcuts through dingy alleyways, ubiquitous pizza-by-the-slice joints and other bars (which all appear to serve New Amsterdam), the two finally arrive at their destination, with one taking the elevator, the other on the stairs. The man who took the elevator to the rooftop bar wins, thus leaving his buddy to pick up the tab of New Amsterdam cocktails.

“New Amsterdam Vodka has always been rooted in creating connections -- serving as a centerpiece to moments of celebration that bring people together,” said Brandon Lieb, vice president of spirit at Gallo, in an email to Marketing Daily. “We’re embracing the spirit of camaraderie and the bonds of brotherhood that inspire thrilling possibilities.”

Created by Preacher, the  national marketing campaign, along with the spot in :30, :15 and :06 versions, began running earlier this month.

The redesigned packaging maintains the bottle’s shape and signature New York cityscape backdrop, but refreshes the master brand mark and includes more of what the brand refers to as New Amsterdam Blue, a bright blue hue incorporated into the label and bottle top.
