Party On! Instacart Launches Fizz, Social-Focused Delivery App

Instacart offers a new way for party hosts to order snacks and drinks with the help of their guests.

Fizz, a social-focused delivery app features flat rate delivery, group ordering, and automatic payment splitting.

That means hosts, with a simple click, can invite friends to their Fizz party cart to add drinks and snacks for a party or get-together. Those invited can see the whole cart, but only pay for the items they add, allowing users to avoid having to calculate bill-splitting. The host then selects when the collective order is submitted and delivered, with shoppers checking IDs for any alcoholic beverages. The service charges a flat delivery fee of $5, and doesn’t require a membership.

In a blog post introducing the new app, Instacart described Fizz as “tailor-made for groups” and “the easiest way to stock up for a party together.” Instacart touts the service as featuring fast delivery and “selection from Instacart’s leading retailer partners,” citing Kroger, Albertsons, Safeway, Schnucks, and Wegmans, as examples. There’s also a loyalty component, rewarding “Snack Bucks” towards snack orders on Fizz and its partners, with every drink purchase.

For Fizz’s launch, Instacart partnered with social event planning app Partiful, integrating Fizz into its invite process. Partiful users interested in Fizz can toggle on a “group order” option and tap the Fizz link to start adding to an order.

To promote the launch, Instacart is running ads on Apple’s App Store, as well as Google search ads, and using the Partiful integration to drive awareness of Fizz. Influencer marketing campaigns with brand partners will follow in the coming weeks, in an attempt to further drive awareness and adoption of the new app. Instacart also created dedicated social accounts for Fizz on Instagram and TikTok.
