TikTok Announces Special Programming For Cannes Film Festival

For the second year in a row, TikTok is partnering with Cannes Film Festival, inviting a handful of vetted platform creators to post exclusive footage, interviews and festival highlights to the app’s billion global users.

TikTok’s decision to pursue Cannes in 2024 was rooted in a notable uptick in film-related content -- reviews, recommendations, and analysis -- growing on the platform. According to the company, #FilmTok grew 94.7% over the past year, with almost 2 million posts.

Furthermore, over 22,000 videos were posted with the hashtag #Cannes2024. For this year’s festival, TikTok says that users can follow the official hashtag -- #Cannes2025 -- to explore “dedicated ‘Festival de Cannes’ Hub,” which will feature behind-the-scenes footage.

“The community can also find exclusive content from creators, highlights from the red carpet, cast interview film reviews, fashion analysis, and commentary on predictions for the next Palme d’Or winner,” TikTok adds.

To ensure the content output is both of a certain quality and attracts a large following, TikTok has invited specific creators from around the world that have gained notoriety on the platform for posts related to film, fashion and the film industry.

This year, the list includes LA-based Joe Aragon (@cinema.joe), who blends film and pop-culture; Monse Gutierrez (@cvnela), a horror-first TV/film critic; Reece Feldman (@guywithamoviecamera), a filmmaker with 2.5 million followers; Nicky Reardon (@nicky.reardon), a podcast host who provides well-researched entertainment deep-dives; and more.

The news follows TikTok’s own film competition, which received 300,000 entries and rewarded winners with cash prizes and a trip to Cannes.

TikTok will have an in-person experience stationed in the JW Marriott during this year’s festival, inviting creators, partners and film industry professionals through a series of planned activations.
