"This new era demands new thinking. Brands need a strategic partner
to help them navigate change and drive their business forward," says a just-released sizzle reel from WPP Group explaining the rebrand of GroupM to WPP Media.
"That's why GroupM is now WPP
Media" it adds, noting: "One company. One vision. One platform integrated across the WPP network to accelerate growth in the AI era..."
The one-minute-and-32-second spot goes on to make other
obligatory new era claims, but does not actually explain why it needed to be rebranded from GroupM to do that.
“Consumers already expect advertising to be relevant and engaging and
buying experiences to be seamless; those expectations are only going to accelerate in the age of AI. WPP Media is built for a world in which media is everywhere and in everything," WPP Media CEO Brian
Lesser says in a statement included with a press release attached to the reel, adding: "By investing in our AI-powered product, integrating our offer with data and technology, and equipping our people
with future-facing skills, we’re helping our clients to stay ahead of rapidly changing consumer behavior and unlock the limitless opportunities for growth that AI will create.”

The release does not explain what investment WPP Media has made in its AI-powered product, but WPP did recently acquire InfoSum, a company formerly run by Lesser, who
retained some equity in it, which is part of the reboot from GroupM to WPP Media.
