Starbucks To Add Content Creators To Payroll

Starbucks is hiring two content creators to travel to some of the fast casual chain's most unique locations around the world.

“The creators' main responsibility will be to capture their experiences at these locations, which may include a Starbucks coffee farm in Costa Rica, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan or coffeehouses in Tokyo,” according to USA Today. “According to the job posting, the salary range for the content creator role is between $80,100-$136,000 for the 12-month, full-time role.”

In addition to the travel portion, the employees will be tasked with creating "engaging social content highlighting interesting, social-first stories focused on our global brand and product experiences," the job description reads.

“Of the two successful applicants, one will be a current Starbucks employee and the other will be an external hire,” according to Fast Company. “Both creators will receive a full-time salary, rooming accommodations through Marriott Bonvoy, and travel covered by Delta Air Lines for the duration of the year.”

Responsibilities include pitching ideas for Starbucks’s social channels and collaborating with the global marketing team.

"Starbucks isn’t the only brand embracing in-house ambassadors. Ulta Beauty recently launched an ambassador program called 'Ulta Beauties,'” compensating employees who were already posting content about their jobs," per Fast Company. "Instead of relying on traditional influencers, these brands are turning to existing employees who already have the context and connection to represent the brand authentically."

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said in April the company has been facing challenges in reviving its business, according to Reuters. "The coffee giant posted disappointing global comparable sales and profit with inflation and economic uncertainty driving up costs and dampening U.S. demand. Investors have placed their bets on Niccol's turnaround strategy for the brand, whose sales have fallen for four straight quarters."

Applicants for the job need to be U.S. residents and at least 18 years old. No previous work experience or college diploma is required for the role, per the listing.

“The listing invites interested candidates to submit a video application on TikTok by June 13 using the hashtag #StarbucksGlobalCoffeeCreator,” according to Business Insider. “As of press time, there are more than 300 videos from content creators on the platform with that tag. Many of them followed similar formats — introducing themselves and saying why they'd be a good fit for the role.”
