To drive in-store purchases during the back-to-school
shopping push, American Eagle has partnered with Snapchat, utilizing the social-media platform’s interactive map to promote its brick-and-mortar locations.
According to Snap, 95% of its users plan to do their back-to-school shopping in physical stores this year. Therefore, the company is
launching a first-of-its-kind promotional partnership with the teen-forward clothing distributor via Snap Map, on which a unique emoji will be displayed.
Snapchatters will have the
option to tap the American Eagle emoji to peruse a particular store’s summer arrivals, Stories, and Spotlight content from the company, creators, and other users. By clicking the emoji, users
will also have the option to shop online.
Over 800 American Eagle retail locations across the U.S. will be featured as Promoted
Places on the map.
In addition to the ability to shop online and learn more about specific stores, American Eagle
is also launching a new AR Lens that invites Snapchatters to virtually try on the brand’s selection of jeans.
Snap says American Eagle is the first fashion retailer to leverage its Promoted Places ad feature, which the company
officially launched last September as a way for businesses to reach out to consumers exploring nearby locations.
According to Snap, Snap Map was opened over 40 billion times last quarter by about 400 million users.
