Genesis Gets Freaky (Friday, That Is) With Disney Deal

Genesis is teaming up with Disney for “Freakier Friday,” which hits theaters Aug. 8.

In a fun twist worthy of the film’s iconic body-swap premise, the luxury automaker is making a star-studded appearance with its SUV lineup, including the GV60 and the bold GV80, featured prominently in the much-anticipated sequel to the 2003 remake of "Freaky Friday."  The original "Freaky Friday" is a 1976 Disney film based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name.

Genesis’ media agency, Canvas Worldwide, facilitated a targeted media campaign that included linear and social media support, along with a custom spot highlighting the vehicle placement in the film.

The collaboration invites consumers to discover how Genesis can help them navigate life’s daily adventures and empower the women who drive them, says Amy Marentic, chief marketing officer of Genesis Motor America.

Genesis vehicles are along for the ride as Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) navigate their latest body-swapping adventure in the movie.

Whether it's Tess recharging in her all-electric GV60 or Anna cruising through Los Angeles in the  GV80 SUV, each vehicle becomes an extension of their personalities. As the story unfolds, Genesis helps drive the emotional and physical journey of family dynamics and rediscovery, offering a sanctuary on wheels and a stylish symbol of connection across generations.

Earler this month, Genesis was announced as a year-long sponsor of films on Channel 4, a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel. The deal includes sponsorship of film programming across linear and streaming.

Sibling brand Hyundai has a long history of movie and film festival sponsorship.
