Vera Bradley designer
of
women’s handbags and
luggage, wants to connect with Millennial and GenZ. To accomplish that goal, ad agency Callen created a short film featuring 2000s teen idol Devon Sawa.
Sawa played the human boy in
"Casper" and starred in "Final Destination" and "Nikita."
The idea is to channel the brand's roots in a fun, nostalgic way by using fan fiction.
The work follows a teenage Kristin Mulrooney, with Vera Bradley tote, when her high-school boyfriend break up with her. The catch? She's comforted
by Sawa, her celebrity crush.
“Our goal here was to harness the nostalgia around Vera Bradley to cultivate contemporary cultural relevance,” said Craig Allen, CCO at Callen.
“To be a part of Vera Bradley is to be an advocate of joy. This campaign taps into the beloved bag brand’s spirit in a way that’s playful, and, we hope, unforgettable for the women
who grew up with it.”
Callen client work also includes Nickelodeon, Naked Wines and the band Real Estate.
