It’s official. Nike broke the
news that Caitlin Clark is the company’s newest signature athlete, and apparel with the just-revealed logo is set to go on sale next month, with shoes slated for next year. In the announcement,
Clark says it’s not just a logo reveal, but “a dream come true.”
Fans of the Indiana Fever guard have been clamoring for this almost since Clark signed with Nike in 2022. And
while there’s plenty of love for the mark with its two interlocking Cs, ESPN reports a fair amount of sniping, with some critics dismissing the design as underwhelming.
Nike’s description of the logo, developed in collaboration with Clark: the “two interwoven C’s reflect Caitlin’s magnetic connection with fans around the globe
who are drawn to her unwavering confidence, steadfast commitment and remarkable shooting ability.” The brand adds: “Tucked between the larger letters is a smaller, hidden C that represents
how Caitlin’s game was built from the inside out — a product of her passion for the sport, relentless drive and constant pursuit of perfection.”

Many online fans saw meh instead, and ESPN rounded up the boo birds. “I’m actually kinda pissed,” one wrote on X. “She has the EASIEST two letters to
work with … and this is what they came up with?” Another noted: “This looks like somebody got drunk and tried to draw the Chanel logo with a Swiss Army knife.”

Nike says a navy-and-yellow Caitlin Clark logo T-shirt
will be available starting Sept. 1, with the rest of her logo apparel collection launching in October.
While Nike has hundreds of athletes under
contract, few achieve signature status. Among them: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and WNBA stars A’ja WilsonandSabrina Ionescu.
Now in her second year, Clark has missed time with a groin injury, which hasn’t seemed to diminish her fan base.
