WPP Media Revamps UK Management Structure

WPP Media confirmed a major management restructuring in the UK today, part of an ongoing global effort to “enhance client-centricity,” facilitate greater “agility” and more generally streamline the organization.

The company announced internally a similar reorganization in the U.S. in August.

In the UK (as with the US) individual CEO titles at the group’s big media agency networks are being done away with and those executives are taking on new roles and responsibilities.

Natalie Cummins, former CEO EssenceMediacom UK is now a WPP Media president tasked with overseeing that agency’s clients. Jem Lloyd Williams, the former CEO of Mindshare UK, takes on the dual role UK Chief Strategy Officer and president overseeing Mindshare Clients.

Jon Stevens will oversee Wavemaker clients as a WPP Media president. He previously held the title Chief Growth Officer.

Kelly Parker, former CEO Wavemaker UK is now Chief Media Officer for the region. In that role Parker oversees a newly created division-- Media Management and Delivery (MM&D) which the firm said “will be a centre of excellence for media activation and investment.”

“This refreshed approach is all about delivering growth for our clients, working smarter, and creating work that that truly makes a difference,” the company stated on its LinkedIn page.

In the U.S., last month, the company told staffers that Richard Hartell, who had been US CEO of EssenceMediacom, has shifted to the role of Chief Business Officer for the region. Nancy Hall, who had led Mindshare US is now Chief Client Officer and Alycia Mason, former US CEO Wavemaker is now president, Midwest.

WPP Media CEO Brian Lesser said on an earnings call last month that “We've broken down silos to operate as a single global organization with local relevance. Whether you sit in Mindshare or Wavemaker, in London or in Vietnam, you're part of a connected system with shared goals, led by a newly reorganized leadership team solely focused on driving results.”

Earlier this year Lesser eliminated the Global CEO roles at Mindshare, Wavemaker and EssenceMediacom.

Adam Gerhart, former Global Mindshare CEO was named Global Chief Client Officer WPP Media. Toby Jenner, former Global CEO at Wavemaker was named Global Chief Business Officer. The Global CEO post at EssenceMediacom was vacant at the time of the restructuring. Nick Lawson left that role late last year. In July he was named Chairman of UK out-of-home media company i-Media.
