Shiner Beers has appointed McGarrah
Jessee as its new creative agency of record. The win came after a competitive review.
This is not McJ's first alliance with the brand. It was Shiner's lead agency from 2003 to
2018. First brand work as AOR will launch in Q4.
Britton Upham, CEO, McGarrah Jessee, said: “With fresh perspective, enduring admiration and an entirely new market landscape
ahead, we’re energized to shine a new light on this unique and timeless brand.”
Founded in 1909 by Czech and German immigrants, Shiner, owned by independent craft brewer
Spoetzl Brewery, distributes its beers in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Mexico. In late 2024, Shiner also launched a non-alcoholic
version of its flagship Shiner Bock.

“We’re operating in a competitive landscape and consumer behavior has been changing rapidly,” added Nick Weiland, brand director
at Shiner. “We wanted a partner like McJ who understands the Shiner brand and knows how to grow into the next stage in ways that feel true and meaningful for today’s drinker.”
Shiner is owned by The Gambrinus Company, located in San Antonio, Texas. Gambrinus sells and markets craft beers from two independent craft
breweries: the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas and the Trumer Brewery in Berkeley, California.
The agency's client roster also includes YETI, Whataburger, Lyft and
Fender.
