As Microsoft
invests in AI-powered business and advertising tools, the company’s Executive Vice President Ryan Roslansky has named longtime LinkedIn employee and former COO Daniel Shapero as the social media
and jobs platform’s new CEO.
Shapero first joined LinkedIn in 2008 as the vice president of global sales. Over the past 18 years, he has held various positions at the company, including
vice president of product, chief business officer, chief operating officer, and now chief executive officer.
Announcing his new role on LinkedIn, Shapero mentioned his goal of helping LinkedIn
provide users with economic opportunity, stating that “as the world is transformed by AI…professionals everywhere must transition along with it.”
“Dan has led sales,
marketing, and product across the most important parts of this business,” Roslansky wrote in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday. “He knows our members, our customers, and carries the mission in a way that's genuinely
rare.”

LinkedIn's increased investment in artificial intelligence has resulted in notable business gains, boosting its revenue 11% in Q4 2026 compared to the previous quarter, with paid video ads
growing 30% year-over-year. The company's “big bet” on AI tools has
also sparked an uptick in its Premium subscription offering, which now has over 175 million subscribers and generates >over $2 billion in annual revenue.
Since Roslansky took over six
years ago, LinkedIn has doubled its user base, from around 700 million registered users to over 1.3 billion. The company recently reported $19 billion in total annual revenue.
As Shapero enters his new executive role, he says that he will “start by learning and listening… connecting with our team, members, creators, and customers.”
