Xbox Teases Discord Game Pass Integration

Before CEO Asha Sharma made plans to cut the price of Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service and replace the gaming sector's Microsoft Gaming title with “Xbox,” the newly appointed executive announced a Game Pass partnership with gaming-centric social platform Discord.

“For years, Xbox and @discord have worked together to make it easier for players to connect, chat, and play across devices,” Sharma noted in an X post. “We're teaming up again as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for our players.”

While Sharma held back on sharing more details regarding the integration, she stated that Game Pass subscribers will start to “see some code in the wild,” while Xbox plans to share more details with subscribers soon.

When Xbox first partnered with Discord in 2018, users were invited to connect their Discord profiles with their Xbox Live profiles as a way to bridge a gap between console and PC gamers. Eight years later, gamers gained the ability to stream and view Discord livestreams directly on their Xbox consoles.

Beyond utilizing Discord's social gaming environment to boost engagement around Xbox, the Microsoft gaming brand currently offers Game Pass Ultimate subscribers a free month of Discord's premium “Nitro” subscription service.

Yesterday afternoon, Discord updated Sharma’s X post with the added caption "Soon."
