Google Reimagines 'Intelligent' Search, Biggest Change In 25 Years

Google has introduced a generative artificial intelligence (AI)  model that pushes Gemini deeper into Search. 

Gemini 3.5 Flash, a reasoning model designed to power agentic workflows, is the newest generation of Google’s flagship model family. 

The company called it a new era for search. 

"Because your curiosity doesn’t always fit into keywords, we’re also introducing the biggest upgrade to our Search box in over 25 years, now completely reimagined with AI," said Google Head of Search Liz Reid. "This intelligent Search box puts our most powerful AI tools right at your fingertips, making it easier to ask your questions."

This new box gives those searching speed and easy access to AI capabilities, with longer prompts and more AI options. The company used its new Gemini AI model to overhaul its search box to answer longer queries and add a video-generation tool that simplifies online shopping.

These advancements help advertisers in several ways through a completely new AI-driven search ecosystem that changes how consumers user browsers, research, and make purchases.

Rather than returning links, Google's agentic search creates high-intent touchpoints where consumers get closer making decisions.

The Flash technology delivers incrediable speed with near-instantaneous responses, keeping users engaged and reducing bounce rates before they reach a brand's landing page.

Google also debuted digital assistants, or "information agents," that automate search queries. If someone is looking for an apartment, the agent will notify them of a new listing on Zillow or other websites.

The "information agents" will search across the web through resources including blogs, news sites and social posts and will scan real-time information on finance, shopping and sports to monitor changes related to specific questions.

The agents operate in the background. They can "intelligently reason across information to find exactly" what someone needs and will send updates with the ability to act. 

As Google's web has changed, those who use its services will change too. Expanded agentic booking capabilities will take on new tasks when a person shares specific criteria -- for example, finding a private karaoke room on a Friday night that serves food late. The agent will return information such as pricing and availability with direct links to finish booking through a provider of choice. 

The technology, Flash 3.5, is providing speed and performance for the agents to handle the long-tail required tasks.

When combined with the new update to Google Antigravity, the company’s agentic coding editor, the new large language model becomes a powerful AI engine capable of orchestrating multiple agents that collaborate to solve complex problems.
