YouGov released its annual poll of the news
sources American voters trust most and least and for the first time, as far as I can tell, they have a tabulation on the sources trusted "about equally" by Democrats and Republicans.
Ironically, they are all news outlets that would likely be characterized as right-wing -- The Daily Caller, The Washington Examiner and National Review -- and regardless of party affiliation, they
each hovered near or below zero trust.
Comparatively, the top three most-trusted news sources among Republicans offered little surprise: Fox News, Fox Business Channel and Newsmax.
Among, Democrats, PBS, The Weather Channel And NBC rank most trusted.
It should be noted that The Weather Channel and PBS rank No. 1 and No. 2 most-trusted among the total U.S. population
too.
They also happen to be the top two news sources to gain the most trust since YouGov's 2025 survey, with the other gainers (in ranked order) being The Wall Street Journal, AP,
Reuters, Time magazine, and The Financial Times.

While all other news sources lost trusted ground year-over-year, one stands out to me in particular: CBS News.
While
CBS did lose significant trust among Democrats and Independents year-over-year, it did not move the needle among Republicans whatsoever.
That's striking, because of the moves Skydance
Paramount has made in transforming CBS News since it acquired the company, including installing The Free Press Founder Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief of CBS News, and the heavy-handed way in
which she has pivoted it ideologically.
While the YouGov study does not include The Free Press, you can see how major news sources rank on ideological grounds -- including CBS -- in
the chart at bottom.
Curiously, the YouGov poll was conducted just last month, but CBS News was still perceived as having an overtly liberal bias.
