Heart & Soul Marketing Inserts Bar-S Hot Dogs Into History

Bar-S hot dogs is rewriting American history.

To promote the brand, Heart & Soul Marketing created an integrated social and digital campaign that makes the hot dogs part of famous moments: George Washington crossing the Delaware and the Wright Brothers’ first flight.

Bar-S, one of the country’s top-selling franks, uses the 250th event to suggest their product was as important to Washington as founding a nation. The humor is rooted in Americana — with a twist. The brand is billed as “The #1 Hot Dog in American History.”

That inflection point — where patriotism and parody meet — gives viewers a new taste of Bar-S.

“In recent Bar-S campaigns, we’ve found success with celebrity-driven creative as a way to borrow some extra credibility for the No. 1 hot dog in America,” Sam Wareham, creative director, Heart & Soul Marketing, told Agency Daily. “But for the nation’s 250th birthday, we're moving in a different direction. Turning our country’s historical figures into the stars as we write Bar-S into the missing pages of our textbooks and make the brand the playfully heroic mealtime solution wherever — and whenever — hunger intersects with history.”

Phoenix-based Heart & Soul’s client roster also includes Arizona’s Office of Tourism, Giant Food and FMS Bank.
