Stellantis Reimagines Storytelling With Drone Campaign

Stellantis and Nova Sky Stories are partnering to bring immersive drone storytelling experiences to audiences nationwide.

The automaker’s U.S. brands — Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram — are the official and exclusive automotive partners of DroneArt Show, the open-air drone spectacle co-produced by Nova Sky Stories and Fever.

The brands will present original branded Sky Stories before select performances, using the power of drone technology, art and storytelling.

The collaboration will also include branded vehicle experiences on-site at DroneArt Show events at select locations, digital fan engagement and a ticket bank for local dealer distribution.

DroneArt Show productions are anticipated to reach audiences through hundreds of shows across the United States by the end of 2026, according to the automaker.

The collaboration builds on Nova Sky Stories’ mission to use drone technology as a storytelling medium capable of creating emotional, large-scale public experiences.

Stellantis Global CMO Olivier Francois calls it “a bold new creative canvas.”

Francois first saw Nova Sky Stories drones in action during the 2025 Cannes Lions Festival in June 2025. He says he was in awe of what he experienced and sought out the company’s co-founder and CEO Kimbal Musk.

But Francois didn’t originally have automotive marketing in mind for the Nova Sky Stories drones. He was hoping for a collaboration on the “Grace for the World” concert event in September 2025,  the first-ever music event held in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. It drew over 130,000 attendees in person and an estimated global audience of more than 2 billion viewers across broadcast and streaming platforms.

Francois sees drone art as “the next frontier of storytelling.”

“I'm convinced that it won't take long before this becomes, you know, just a new normal,” Francois tells Marketing Daily. "But for now, it is not normal. Anyone I know who sees one of these shows, the only frontier is imagination. You can do anything. The sky, the night sky, is your blank canvas, and you do whatever you want, and you have thousands of people at once, totally focused.”

Screens don't hold a viewer's attention the way the sky does, he says.

“Not only are they focused, but they film and they share and they post, and it becomes viral,” Francois says. “So, it became the foundation for that Stellantis and Nova Sky Stories partnership. I'm a marketer, so I'm always looking for a new medium, a new storytelling medium. Bam, the sky! You know I love that. I always say ‘the sky is the limit.’ in this case, the sky is not even the limit.”

Stellantis is not DroneArt Show’s first marketing partner. The DroneArt Show: Harry Potter partnered with Audible to celebrate full-cast audio editions. The 60-minute experience includes music, a live violinist, interactive LED wristbands, and an Audible listening tent.

“In the case of Stellantis, we can have a Dodge Ram, you know, flying across with an American flag celebrating the 250th anniversary, and it's physically, literally in front of you and around you, and immersive,” Musk tells Marketing Daily. “It's the sky story medium that we are creating. Until you really experience it firsthand, you don't quite get it. I really love that Stellantis has stepped up and taken this, gotten on this journey with us to to figure out how to tell stories in the sky.”

Audiences bring family and friends and arrive several hours before the show begins, he says.

“I really think live entertainment is what's left in this new technological era we're in that is special,” says Musk, whose brother Elon is the CEO of Tesla, which doesn’t engage in marketing activities. “[Audiences are] engaged with the content that is happening in front of them because if they don't pay attention, it's going to go away. They can't just press pause. They're also engaging because they're around their community and friends.”

The Stellantis sky story will be featured at DroneArt Shows including those in Houston, Sacramento, Seattle and Tampa in August, and in St. Louis and San Francisco in September. More shows will be added this fall.
