Havas and F.Y.Eye Help NYC Nonprofits Tell Their Stories

Havas and nonprofit media organization F.Y. Eye have finished a five-month program that helped six New York City nonprofits create professional public service advertising campaigns.

Via the program, dubbed the Nonprofit Co-Lab, Havas employees and local artists worked with each nonprofit over several months, teaching them to tell their stories and communicate with the public.

The six campaigns received free advertising space from media partners including Captivate, Curb, LinkNYC and the F.Y. Eye PSA Network. Together, the campaigns generated an estimated 280 million impressions and about $1 million worth of donated advertising.

The participating nonprofits focused on different issues:

  • Restore NYC: Raised awareness of human trafficking.

  • Queensboro Dance Festival: Promoted cultural diversity and community through dance.

  • United Neighborhood Houses: Highlighted the services provided by neighborhood settlement houses.

  • Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison: Promoted college education for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people.

  • GrowNYC: Encouraged SNAP and EBT recipients to use their benefits at local farmers markets.

  • Bronx River Alliance: Encouraged New Yorkers to use and help restore the Bronx River.

Havas executives said the program demonstrates how advertising agencies can use their creative and strategic expertise to help community organizations. F.Y. Eye said the goal is not only to produce effective campaigns but also to give nonprofits lasting communications skills.

They’re preparing a new program with a different set of non-profits that will begin soon.
