Expanding its "Characters Welcome" marketing campaign online, USA Network will start a broad digital site, the "Character Approved Blog."
Ten leading writers in art, architecture, design, fashion, film/TV, food, music, social good/giving and technology will contribute weekly to the site. The blog will be syndicated to third parties -- RSS feeds, Facebook and Twitter, to name a few.
USA has built out from its original "Characters Welcome" TV marketing campaign with its Character Approved Awards, the second annual event held in February. Those awards pay tribute to innovators when it comes to opinions and style.
Another expansion of the "Characters Welcome" campaign came recently with a new casual gaming site: www.characterarcade.com.
Earlier this year, USA Network expanded its "Character Unite" community affairs campaign -- an effort to combat prejudice and discrimination -- with themed original programming, sponsorship opportunities, digital content and grassroots efforts.
Previously, the net started "Show Us Your Character," a social marketing extension, where viewers were invited to send in videos and other content to show their 'character.'
