USA Network says it has started the first mobile app that will allow viewers to interact with show performers.

For the upcoming reality show "WWE Tough Enough," which builds on the network's wrestling entertainment programming, the app allows viewers/fans to connect with each other and provide instant communications and a affinity rewards program, as well as allowing viewers to connect with talent on Android-based or iOS (iPad or iPhone) devices.

With the first episode of the show -- which pits 14 contestants in a challenge to become a new WWE performer -- users can access exclusive content by inputting keywords that will be promoted in-show, online and at other various "Tough Enough" destinations.

The keywords will allow fans to get to videos, photos and more through the new Android and iOS apps. Fans will also have access to social-platform features that enable them to keep friends abreast of their actions, before, during and after the program in a real-time experience.

"Our digital team is truly taking the competition to the mats with USA's new series. Our second-screen app experience provides us the opportunity to engage with fans in real-time around a franchise they love," stated Jesse Redniss, vice president of digital, USA Network.

"WWE Tough Enough" starts up after Wrestlemania XXVII, Monday, April 4, immediately following "Raw" at 11:05 p.m. EST. It then moves to its regular timeslot, Mondays at 8 p.m. ET starting April 11.
