New Orleans Tourism Offers Broadway Sweeps

New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp.'s message will travel to New York to partner with the Broadway production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" in a sweepstakes.

The promotion tying the show to the city runs through July 22. Contestants can enter the sweepstakes through April 11 at neworleansonline.com.

One winner will win three trips, which include air transportation and hotel, and are valued at a total of over $9,000. The first is a travel package to New York City to see A Streetcar Named Desire. The second is a trip to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, which includes three nights at the newly renovated Hyatt Regency New Orleans, and the third will take the same winner on a seven-night western Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas.

On opening night, April 22nd, celebrated chef Michael Gulotta of John Besh’s Restaurant August will travel to New York to create an authentic New Orleans-style celebration featuring classic New Orleans dishes like okra gumbo, hot muffalettas, crabmeat po-boys and bread pudding. Visitor guides and beads will be distributed at that evening's show as well as on some other nights.

"We are excited to play a supporting role in one of the most iconic of all New Orleans-based plays," said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu in a release. "Tennessee Williams captured the essence of our authentic and romantic city and memorialized it with his story."

Sweepstakes sponsors include Essence Music Festival, Hyatt Regency New Orleans, Hampton Inn Manhattan - Times Square North, Jet Blue, Royal Caribbean International, Dooky Chase Restaurant, Centrico Restaurant, and Limousine Livery.

The New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation promotes the city as a leisure tourism destination throughout the year. The marketing campaigns include strategic print, broadcast, and Internet advertising and public relations.
