'House of Cards' and Stars Get Emmy Noms; So Does Bateman, for 'Arrested Development'

As widely expected, the Netflix drama, “House of Cards” was nominated for best drama in this year’s Emmy Award competition on Thursday morning.  Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright were nominated for best actor and actress for their roles in the drama.

Jason Bateman, one of the stars of “Arrested Development,” the old Fox comedy brought back by Netflix, was nominated as best actor in a comedy, but the series itself was not.

The awards will be doled out Sept. 22 on CBS. The nominations were streamed online by ABC News and shown on “Good Morning America” shortly after 8:30 a.m.  on Thursday.

The nominations for “House of Cards” and Bateman are the first in the major Emmy categories for streaming video content, but other online programs and online stars have been nominated for Emmys in the past.
