Courtin Steps Up To Big New Aegis Media Post

Aegis Media has promoted Angela Courtin to the newly-created role of U.S. president of Aegis Media, the agency confirmed Tuesday.

In the new position, Courtin will oversee the firm’s U.S. operations including Carat, Isobar, Vizeum, Posterscope, iProspect and the shop’s other specialty units.

Previously Courtin served in the dual role as Chief Content Officer of Aegis Media Americas and President of The Story Lab. In those roles she worked with clients to strengthen connections with consumers by creating and leveraging content for agencies across the Aegis network.

Aegis indicated that Courtin would retain her role as head of the Story Lab, which she helped to launch in 2012. No word at deadline on what the plans are for the Chief Content Officer role.

In the new job Courtin is tasked with ensuring that “all initiatives are aligned with Aegis’ strategy and ambitions to advance the agency’s vision and philosophy of convergence” the agency stated. She will continue to be based in Los Angeles and report to Nigel Morris, CEO of Aegis Media Americas & EMEA, who is based in New York.

Morris credited Courtin with having “a unique understanding of how content and media can be leveraged in innovative ways to deliver results and value to brands, as well as marketing and storytelling expertise that will drive our clients’ businesses forward.”

“In today’s convergent, multichannel world, the opportunity is for brands to leverage an architected media ecosystem to deliver measurable business outcomes,” stated Courtin. “Our mission is to find new ways to reach and engage people, empower them with great content, and ultimately drive true business outcomes for our partners.”

Courtin joined Aegis Media in 2011 as EVP, Content & Convergence. Previously, she was co-head of Integrated Marketing at MTV and led Marketing, Entertainment and Content at MySpace, and also worked as associate producer of the HBO series “Big Love.”
