VML Absorbs Studiocom

WPP digital shop is absorbing its Studiocom subsidiary, reorganizing its leadership and creating three new VML-branded offices from its ranks, the agency said.

The new offices will be located in Boston, Atlanta and Bogota, Columbia. With the consolidation, VML adds Kimberly-Clark and Turner Broadcasting and other new clients to its roster.

Juan Fernando Santos and Chris Edmondson previously led Studiocom as co-presidents and will take on new roles. Santos has been appointed Chief Experience Officer at VML and Edmondson has been named executive director in charge of the Boston, Atlanta and Bogota offices.

“Re-branding Studiocom to VML immediately strengthens our collective offering in North and South America,” stated VML CEO and President Jon Cook. “By becoming one company, we have the opportunity to accelerate growth and capability, without losing any of the unique Studiocom heritage, expertise or culture.”

The consolidation adds 115 staffers to the VML team of 1,700 employees worldwide.

The move, which is effective immediately, is  the latest that VML has made this year to expand its footprint. A few weeks ago it bought Beijing-based agency IM2.0. Earlier this year it acquired stakes in agencies in South Africa and Poland and opened an office in Tokyo.
