Facebook Expands Business Manager Tool

Facebook is expanding access to Business Manager, a tool that is intended to allow large advertisers and agencies to manage all of their ad accounts, pages, apps and permissions in one place.

Revealed last month while still in testing, the Business Manager dashboard is designed to simplify marketing efforts by centralizing information about a brand’s Facebook presence and giving administrators better control over access to accounts.

For a marketer, it means they can see all Facebook pages, accounts and apps linked to their brand(s) and the in-house people who have access to the various types of assets, as well as external partners such as agencies or Preferred Marketing Developers (PMDs).

Similarly, agencies and PMDs can use Business Manager to see what assets they have access to, and who on their teams is involved.

The service also promises to improve workflow and streamline campaign management. “With one click, admins can add new people to ad accounts and Pages, greatly reducing the time it takes to set up and manage marketing efforts. For employees and external partners, Business Manager makes it easy to find the things they’re working on,” stated a Facebook blog post today.

The system also removes the hassle of having to "friend" someone to give them access to manage a page. People use their Facebook login once to access all of the ad accounts and pages they work on, without having to be friends with others from work to gain access. An administrator can add someone to a page or ad account using just their work email address.

Facebook said Business Manager, which brands can set up at business.facebook.com, is currently available to a limited number of U.S. advertisers, with plans to roll out internationally within a few weeks.
