LA Agency Stun Creative Expands Into TV, Web Programming

Los Angeles-based agency Stun Creative is creating a new production unit called Stun Originals that will develop original entertainment programming and content for TV and the Web.

Stun has hired Maria Crenna as president of the new operation. Previously Crenna, who is the daughter of the late actor Richard Crenna, was president of Mandeville Television, a post she left about a year ago. Before that she was executive vice president of CBS Paramount Network Television.

“Stun Originals will make a strong push into television programming and content,” said Brad Roth, Partner at Stun Creative. Crenna, he added, is “a top player in this business and has the perfect experience to make this new content division a winner."

At CBS Paramount Network Television Crenna is said to have overseen such programs as  "Criminal Minds," "Medium, "Ghost Whisperer," "Everybody Hates Chris," and "NCIS." Earlier, as executive vice president of CBS Productions, she’s credited with having helped launch "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "Without A Trace," "Judging Amy," "King Of Queens," and "Cold Case."

Previously Stun has focused on commercials, network promos and branded content. Now, as it enters the programming production arena, Crenna said Stun Originals’ “greatest strength is its independence.” As an independent, she added, “we can be entrepreneurial about how we approach development and production.”
