RebelMail Rebrands As Rebel, Launches Rebel Shop

Interactive email platform RebelMail announced a rebrand on Wednesday in conjunction with a new product launch that transforms email messages into shopping gateways.

RebelMail was originally founded in 2013 to allow users to send interactive emails with no plugins required. The company’s first product allowed email marketers to incorporate quizzes and shopping experiences directly within an email message, and RebelMail later released an API for developers as well.

The New York-based company is now dropping the “Mail” from its name, and now will be called Rebel.

Alongside news of its rebranding, Rebel also announced the release of Rebel Shop on Wednesday. Revel Shop serves adds an end-to-end secure checkout application directly inside of an email message.

For example, a triggered cart abandonment email could display images of products browsed and allow subscribers to purchase items directly from within their email. The one-click checkout in-email takes out unnecessary clicks, as subscribers don't need to be directed to a company’s Web site to complete their purchases.

“Devices and consumer behavior have evolved rapidly over the years, yet email has remained largely static,” states Joe Teplow, founder, Rebel, in a blog post announcing the news. “More customers open their email on mobile devices which means there’s more friction and lower conversion when you drive users to an app or site." Rebel Shop, he says, brings end-to-end checkout into the inbox.

Teplow says Rebel’s mission is to reduce friction and make the email experience more seamless for the end user.
