Comcast Launches Cloud-Based Video Ad Platform

Comcast Technology Solutions, the division of Comcast Cable that develops technical services for marketers, content providers, and distributors, is launching AdStor, a cloud-based video advertising platform.

The new product allows ads to be quickly uploaded to an aggregated library in the cloud, where it can be served to video-on-demand and digital platforms and services.

As consumers increasingly view content across multiple devices and platforms, delivering video advertising has become more complicated. Manually inserting a video into multiple systems can take as long as a few days to be fully ready for deployment. Comcast claims that its service can do the whole process in a few minutes.

A cloud-based service also enables ads to have a shorter shelf life on VOD and OTT (as they can be inserted at the last minute and replaced by fresher ads when needed), as well as time-sensitive or local ads to be displayed through VOD services.
