AppNexus Says Its CTV Marketplace Increased 748%

The advertising-technology company AppNexus says its connected TV marketplace grew by 748% in the second quarter, compared to the same period last year, and 69% in Q2 compared to Q1 this year. The growth underscores just how quickly the larger CTV market is expanding.

Both marketers and programmers are investing in the CTV market, a trend affecting marketplaces like the one operated by AppNexus. The company says it now sees “more than 20 billion monthly connected TV impressions per month across Smart TVs, set top boxes, and game consoles.”

AppNexus says its clients now include three of the top 10 global ad agencies, a Fortune 25 marketer and five “of the world’s largest sports and news broadcast networks.” The company also notes it has Operam as a client on the buy side, buying inventory on behalf of entertainment and film clients, as well as Tubi on the supply side, providing inventory on its free streaming movie and TV service.

As programmatic buying on CTV continues to accelerate, both marketers and content owners are looking to expand their presence in that field.

AppNexus is in the process of being acquired by AT&T, though the telecom giant will need to secure regulatory approval before closing the deal.
