YouTube TV is raising the monthly price of its bundle of streaming channels by $10, while at the same time adding eight channels from Discovery Inc. and
Epix.
Starting April 10, the price of YouTube TV will rise to $49.99 per month for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will see the new price kick in next month.
With that price hike, however, comes a bevy of new channels. Starting Wednesday, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, ID and MotorTrend will be available
through the service, with OWN to be added later this year.
In addition, the premium channel Epix will be available through YouTube TV at a $6 monthly rate.
The carriage agreement includes the linear channels from Discovery and Epix, as well as 50,000 on-demand titles from Discovery, access to the Discovery Go OTT apps, and on-demand access to
Epix’s full catalog of movies and TV shows.
YouTube TV last raised its monthly price to $40 per month about a year ago. While the service launched as a “skinny
bundle” of channels, consumer demand has slowly driven that bundle price higher and made the channel selection bigger.
YouTube TV now includes more than 70 channels, with
local feeds from all four major broadcast networks in 90% of U.S. markets.
