Social media reportedly is buzzing over a Trump campaign email that invites supporter to join the “Trump Army.”
The image of the email ha been circulating in social media, and is a genuine fundraising email for the campaign, Snopes reports.
The email states:
“This email is FOR PATRIOTS ONLY.
You’ve been identified as one of President Trump’s fiercest and most loyal defenders, and according to your donor file, you’d make an excellent addition to the Trump Army.”
It’s not clear whether the person is being called on to play a military or an organizational role.
However, it offers access to “our never-before-seen, Limited Edition Camo Keep America Great Hat.” The suggested contribution: $35 or more.
The email continues: “The President wants YOU and every other member of our exclusive Trump Army to have to something to identify yourselves with, and to let everyone now that you are the President’s first line of defense when to come to fighting off the Liberal MOB.”
The language seems inflammatory, given the current circumstances, and an observer could well wonder whether it is authentic and if so, whether it is wise.
However, the email was initially shared on Twitter by Aaron Blake, of The Washington Post, Snope reports.
Like an old-fashioned mail order space ad, the email adds, “These limited edition, American-made hats are for Trump Army members ONLY, so do not pass this information on to anyone.”
An earlier message defines Trump Army member as “the President’s fiercest defenders who are willing to go to battle with the Left-wing MOB whenever they come after us,” Snopes continues.
The email appears to be one more development in a bizarre political year.
