Apple has refused an update from Hey, the new email service provider from Basecamp, its app store, according to media reports.
“You download the app and it doesn’t work -- that’s not what we want on the store,” Apple’s Phil Schiller told TechCrunch, referring to the Mac version of the Hey app.
However, Basecamp CEO David Heinemeier Hansson told The Verge that Apple is acting like “gangsters.”
Basecamp feels it “shouldn’t be forced to allow users to sign up for Hey through in-app purchase and hand 30 percent of its annual $99 subscription fee to Apple as a result,” The Verge reports.
But Apple contends it should have never accepted the ioS version of the Hey app, the report says.
