Warner Bros. Discovery Starts FAST Program Channels On Roku

Warner Bros. Discovery has made a deal to create new advertising-supported channels to be run on Roku's The Roku Channel.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Expected launch of the channels is in the spring of 2023

The new FAST channels (Free Ad-Supported Television] platforms will feature shows like “Westworld,” “The Bachelor,” “Cake Boss,” “Say Yes to the Dress,” “F-Boy Island” to arrive in 2023.

The channels will include content that has appeared on all Warner Bros. Discovery channels including HBO, HBO Max, Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, as well as library programming from Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television. The channels will be free for consumers on The Roku Channel.

Previously, David Zaslav, chief executive office of Warner Bros. Discovery had said he wants a goal to sell more programming to third parties including starting more ad-supported platform efforts to boost monetization of its library product -- similar to what Fox Corp. has with Tubi, and what Paramount Global has with Pluto TV./p>

In a separate announcement, Warner Bros. Discovery made a deal with Tubi on Tuesday to add 14 WB branded FAST channels -- some 225 titles totaling over 2,000 hours to the platform.

Over the past year, The Roku Channel has made similar deals for programming wth AMC Networks, NBCUniversal, Warner Music Experience), and the National Hockey League.

The Roku Channel reaches an estimated 80 million U.S. households. It has more than 350 free live linear television channels --more than 80,000 free movies and programs.
