Alcohol ecommerce platform Drizly is expanding its assortment of beer, wine and spirits in a partnership with competitor ecommerce service Gopuff Liquor & More.
In addition to being able to access beverages from Gopuff Liquor & More for on-demand delivery, Drizly will expand the number of BevMo and Liquor Barn retail stores on its platform to 26 states from a half dozen prior to the partnership announced yesterday.
Likewise, Gopuff will expand its reach by “tapping into Drizly’s customer base of high-intent alcohol shoppers,” the companies said in a news release.
Privately held Gopuff acquired California-based BevMo in 2020 and Kentucky’s Liquor Barn chain in 2021.
The Drizly/Gopuff collaboration comes amid turmoil in the business of delivering food and merchandise following a spike in the number of users prompted by the pandemic.

In January, meal-delivery platform Freshly ceased accepting orders several months after Blue Apron and HelloFresh instituted layoffs, as previously reported.
Founded in 2013, Gopuff has followed a different business model than most of its competitors. Instead of sourcing products from third-party vendors like restaurants and retail stores, the company manages its own inventory and supply chain via hundreds of micro-fulfillment centers.
Nonetheless, Gopuff announced a 10% workforce reduction in July of last year following a 3% cutback in April.
The partnership with Drizly builds upon the addition of Gopuff to the Uber Eats app in 2021. Uber Technologies acquired Drizly in 2021 for $1.1 billion.
