According to new
polling by YouGov, The Weather Channel was the only "news" outlet trusted by Americans.
Utilizing a net trust metric -- the percentage-point difference among those deeming each news outlet
"trustworthy" vs. those who consider them "untrustworthy," YouGov reports the weather news service had a net trustworthy score of +53.
That's more than marginally ahead of the next closest
rankers, which a couple of which likely have strong partisan divides: PBS (+30), the BBC (+29), and The Wall Street Journal (+24).
Overall, the news outlets most trusted by the
journalism community -- you know, the ones that actually win Pulitzers -- ranked in the middle, including The Washington Post (+18), NPR (+15) The New York Times (+12), The New
Yorker (+10).

While Fox News Channel eked out a +3 net positive rating, the only net negative news outlets, coincidentally also are likely the ones that position themselves most extremely
partisan: Daily Kos (-1), Breitbart (-3), The Daily Caller (-4), and last but also least, InfoWars (-16).

The study also ranked the major digital media platforms (see above) based on the perceived trustworthiness of the news shared on them, which found
YouTube and LinkedIn are the only two with net trusted rankings among all Americans, while Americans under the age of 45 registered net trusted scores for all but three: Parler, Snapchat and
TikTok.
Interestingly, given news that former Fox News prime-time personality Tucker Carlson is taking his act to Twitter, it's worth noting that the social media platform currently ranks
third, though with an overall net negative score. Though a fairly positive one among younger Americans.
