Unilever's Top Marketer Conny Braams Set To Depart

Here’s a piece of news any agency with a piece of Unilever business will be interested in--the company’s top marketing executive, Conny Braams, Chief Digital and Commercial Officer (CDCO) and member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE), has decided to leave in August.

The company confirmed the development earlier today.

Braams succeeded Keith Weed as the packaged goods giant’s lead marketer at the start of 2020, while her career with the company spans some three decades.

The firm said a successor will be named in “due course.”

In 2021, about a year after Braams assumed the top marketing job, Unilever conducted its first major media agency review in six years.

After a six-month process, the single biggest piece of business went to incumbent WPP, with Omnicom Media Group, Interpublic and Havas Media also winning multiple-market assignments. The firm spends about $4 billion annually on measured media.

Unilever CEO Alan Jope stated, “I am very grateful for Conny’s excellent leadership of our digital, marketing and commercial agenda over the last four years, and for her impressive contribution to Unilever over three decades. As CDCO she has helped to transform our company into a future-fit, fully digitized organization.”

Separately the company announced that CFO Graeme Pitkethly has decided to leave by the end of 2024, adding that it will begin a formal search for his successor.
