Picture Motion, a unique social impact and cause marketing agency focused on the independent film industry, has been acquired by Publicis Media U.S.
Terms were not disclosed, but in a statement, Publicis Media said Picture Motion will strengthen its existing content capabilities and sit within its specialty entertainment division Publicis Media Content & Innovation (PMCI) unit.
"Picture Motion will drive the development of original film and television projects, collaborating with brand clients and entertainment industry partners," the agency said, adding that Publicis Media clients "will be able to explore integrations in already produced content and work with creators to develop new material."
Picture Motion was founded in 2012 by Wendy Cohen and Christie Marchese, the latter whom has joined Publicis Media as executive vice president-entertainment partnerships, reporting to Publicis Media Chief Content Officer Eric Levin, while maintaining other roles outside the company including as CEO of film distribution service Kinema, which she also founded.

Picture Motion CEO Brian Walker also joins Publicis Media, retaining his role as CEO, reporting to Levin.
Picture Motion clients have ranged from nonprofits to brands to studios, including projects for Apple, Disney, Hulu, CNN, HBO, National Geographic, Warner Brothers Discovery, Springhill Company, Hello Sunshine, Patagonia, Qualtrics, Global Fund for Women and PBS.
