Lyft Partners With Animal Planet For Discounted Pet Rides

Ahead of Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl, the television channel and Lyft are partnering to offer discounted pet rides and encourage pet adoptions.

Lyft allows riders to match with drivers who are pet-friendly and ready to welcome furry friends into their vehicles for an extra $4 plus tax. The fee goes entirely to the driver.

To celebrate the Puppy Bowl festivities, Lyft is offering 50% off two pet rides, up to $20 per ride, with the code Puppybowl through Feb. 9.

With the mission of the Puppy Bowl to highlight adoptable pets, these rides can be used to get to and from animal shelters with a new adopted or fostered pup in tow.

Pet riders in New Orleans the week of the Super Bowl/Puppy Bowl will also have the opportunity to be surprised with a Pupmobile upon their pick-up. The vehicle will be equipped with Puppy Bowl swag like dog bandanas and toys for pets and their owners.

The Puppy Bowl is returning for its 21st edition and will run concurrently with the other big game. The three-hour-long program will feature 142 rescue puppies from 80 shelters across 40 states and two countries. It will air on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. ET and will be simulcast across Animal Planet, Discovery, Discovery+, TBS, truTV and Max.

In conjunction with the promotion, Lyft unveiled data about where and when people are taking their pets.

The West Coast is where riders are the most pet–forward. The 10 cities where pet mode is most popular are all in five states: Arizona, Colorado, Washington, California, and Oregon.

The most popular time for pet rides is weekend afternoons, when rides are 3x the average. The top five cities where people are taking their pets to work are Tacoma, Washington; Honolulu, Chattanooga, Portland, Oregon and Denver.
