Microsoft Rolls Out AI Assistant To Xbox Game Play

Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant, has already begun transforming its ad business. Now, the tech giant is rolling out Copilot on the Xbox app for mobile devices.

Starting today, Xbox -- a Microsoft-owned gaming studio and hardware maker -- is launching “Copilot for Gaming.”

Gamers can pull up this early version of this new AI assistant to ask questions about the games they are currently playing on their Xbox, and receive answers based on their personal accounts, gaming history and achievements.

In a recent statement, Xbox provided several questions gamers could start asking Copilot, including “Can you remind me what materials I need to craft a sword in Minecraft?”; “I love horror movies, any suggestions for what game I should play?”; or “What was the last achievement I got in Starfield?”

In general, Copilot for Gaming is designed as an highly informed friend or strategy-guide replica that is an expert in each gamer’s specific tastes, purchase history, ability, and Xbox subscription information.

In addition, the app automatically sources information from the Bing search engine to issue a response. Xbox says it is working to bring “deeper personalization,” “proactive coaching” and more features to the app at a later date.

This early version of the mobile app is currently available through the beta version of the Xbox app in over 50 regions for both Android and iOS users.

Participants can also provide feedback on Copilot for Gaming in order to help the company make adjustments before launching the app globally.
