On Friday, Instagram will begin highlighting
the creative journeys of Tyler, The Creator, Rosalía and other major current-day artists through a series of in-app mini-films, while also
launching “Drafts,” a new way for the platform to invest in emerging artists.
Instagram’s
“Anyway” short-film series, which covers professionals in music, fashion and art, is rooted in
the platform’s desire for creators to feel more comfortable to create personal work and share it with others on the app -- to “make it anyway, and everyone else will
follow.”
The first output from the series shows a group of young creatives surrounding Tyler, The Creator while he provides guidance based on his own
experiences as a working artist. Upcoming film slots will showcase musicians, Rosalía and Fred Again, filmmakers Nadia Lee Cohen and Cole
Bennett, as well as designers Clint 419 and Slawn.

In addition, Rosalía has partnered with Instagram
to bring a new font for Stories and Reels based on her own handwriting.
Instagram’s Adam Mosseri says
that the company will be “doing much more” with these artists in the coming year, but did not provide any further details.
The film series’ aim to influence emerging artists connects directly to Instagram’s “Drafts” project as well, which also launched this week. The
initiative involves Instagram partnering with “the next-generation of creative voices,” such as artists Sailorr, photographer Tyrell Hampton, creative director duo Young Emperors, and
fashion creator Jake Fleming.
Mosseri says Instagram will provide these artists with “financial
support, connections, co-ideation and collaboration opportunities.”
Other notable comments from Mosseri include future changes, such as users being
able to re-order the posts on their grid, a way for users to discreetly post content to their profile, and further investments in “Edits,” a video editing app that launched this
spring.
