Publicis Acquires Sports Marketing Firm Bespoke

Publicis Groupe has acquired Charlotte, NC-based Bespoke, a sports and entertainment marketing agency that was founded a decade ago by two Omnicom veterans Mike Boykin and Greg Busch.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but Boykin and Busch will continue to run the agency under new ownership. Prior to forming Bespoke the duo served at Omnicom for 15 years where they are credited with building out sports marketing practice GMR.

Bespoke is positioned as an agency that helps brands connect with leagues, teams and other sports properties through its consulting and creative services and event activations. It will sit within Publicis Connected Media and will be part of the holding company’s broader sports marketing offering.

Publicis has worked with Bespoke on numerous projects over the past year or so. “The partnership has exceeded expectations,” said Publicis Sports President Jon Tuck.

The Bespoke deal follows Publicis’ April acquisition of Adopt, a sports marketing agency co-founded by Lebron James’ agent Rich Paul and former Nike executives David Creech and Josh Moore. It also follows the Groupe’s February formation of Women’s Sports Connect, a media platform designed to help clients invest in women’s sports programming and activity more effectively.
