The California Post will be the name of a new tabloid
newspaper and digital publication launched by the New York Post Media Group in California early next year, offering readers "a unique and indispensable combination of fearless, common-sense
journalism, celebrity and entertainment news, world class sports reporting and the legendary covers people expect from The New York Post -- but from a distinctly
Californian perspective.
“Los Angeles and California surely need a daily dose of The Post as an antidote to the jaundiced, jaded journalism that has sadly proliferated," parent
News Corp. Chief Executive Robert Thomson added in a statement announcing the new publication's plans.
“I am also pleased that Keith Poole’s remit is expanding, as he will now be
responsible for covering not just New York, but California, the U.S., the world and, perhaps, Mars," he added, referring to The New York Post editor-in-chief, who will also oversee the new
California paper, which will be edited by The California Post Editor-in-Chief Nick Papps.

The paper's content will appear across multiple platforms and formats, including mobile and
desktop sites, video, audio and social media, as well as a daily print edition.
A mock-up published by The New York Post depicts the paper's
founder, Alexander Hamilton, sunning on a West Coast beach.
