Meta's expanded smart glasses partnership with EssilorLuxottica has resulted in the
official launch of its “Performance AI” Oakley product line designed to deliver sport-centric functionality absent from the tech giant's popular line of Ray-Ban smart glasses.
Launching in a global campaign starring Team Oakley athletes, the new smart glasses are designed to provide consumers with “deeper insights” into their “physical
capabilities,” with enhanced battery stamina (between eight and 19 hours), water-resistance, a higher-resolution camera, and the ability to utilize Meta AI for recording a POV video of a
practice run, or an answer regarding a round of golf or surf conditions.

Select pairs of the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses come equipped with “Oakley PRIZM Lens technology,” which Meta
says enhances vision in response to changing light and weather conditions.
Available to consumers across various markets including the U.S. and Canada, Meta's Oakley products start at $399 and
can be upgraded to include individual buyers’ Rx.
Meta says that it has sold “millions of units” of its Ray-Ban glasses since they became available in 2021, tripling sales in Q2 2025 and helping drive the company's 22% year-over-year revenue
growth.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is betting on smart glasses to eventually replace smartphones -- recently warning both industry leaders and consumers that “if you don’t have
glasses that have AI, you're probably going to be at a pretty significant cognitive disadvantage compared to other people.”
Part of a “broader multi-brand, multi-technology
strategy,” according to EssilorLuxottica's Chief Wearables Officer Rocco Basilico, Meta now holds a $3.5 billion stake (3%) in the luxury glasses manufacturer, making Meta the company's
second-largest shareholder.
Recent reports also predict that next month at its Connect conference, Meta will unveil “Hypernova,” the tech giant's first consumer-ready smart glasses
with a 3D display and a wristband that allows users to control their eyewear with hand gestures.
The Hypernova model, which is estimated to cost around $800 per pair, will be sold under one of
EssilorLuxottica's many brands -- potentially Prada.
