De Niro, Pacino Get Cozy For Luxury Campaign

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino typically play tough guys on the big screen.

But for an ad campaign themed for Italian luxury outerwear brand Moncler, they play up their longtime and deep friendship.

“The campaign is premised on expanding the definition of warmth,” according to Fast Company. “Moncler, which is known for creating warm jackets, also wants to be known for the warmth of feeling between friends and loved ones.”

De Niro and Pacino are captured in black-and-white by Platon, the renowned portrait photographer who goes by one name.

“They also shot several short—and rather sweet—black-and-white ad spots that gesture towards their decades-long bond,” according to GQ

They are shown sitting across the table from one another, occasionally touching hands. The actors speak with their distinct, gravelly voices.

“It's cold out there,” Pacino tells De Niro. “Well, whaddya gonna do about it? Wear coats.”

“Whaddya gonna do about it? That’s life,” De Niro agrees, to which Pacino adds: “It just keeps getting better, getting worse.”

The campaign is themed “Warmer Together” and debuted Oct. 15.

"For the spot, DeNiro wears Moncler's Maya 70 down-quilted jacket ($2,530),” according to People. “The campaign also highlights the new Fall/Winter 2025 Bretagne jacket ($2,750), which is a short, hooded puffer 'designed to provide warmth without weight in a cocooning silhouette.'”

De Niro, 82, and Pacino, 85, are celebrating more than 50 years of friendship.

"Warmth was never about the outside. It was always about what was happening on the inside," De Niro says in a clip from the campaign. "Warmth," the men highlight, "comes from the walks and the talks" and "sharing conversations.”

As part of the campaign, Moncler ambassador Tobe Nwigwe and his wife, Fat, recorded a version of the Bill Withers classic “Lean on Me,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s not their first time as pitchmen.

“Pacino has previously played golf on top of a grand piano to advertise Sky Broadband (in his autobiography he blames this on an accountant who mismanaged his money and lost him $50m) while in 2019 De Niro starred in a Warburtons advert where he got to deliver the immortal line 'Bolton bakes best bagel? My butt' (he has offered no explanation for this; perhaps he just really likes bakeries),” according to The Guardian. “However, can you really begrudge them for this latest venture? ... Despite the creative missteps they may have made in the past, they remain two extremely beloved figures in the world of film. While it’s true that they’re both very good actors, the photos for the campaign show what seems to be genuine warmth. They’ve got decades of history behind them, and that’s perfectly evident.”
